Joel Barnes
Chief Meteorologist

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Joel Barnes moved to Colorado when he was 12. He came to Casper from Colorado in December of 2003. Joel started as the Morning/Noon Meteorologist at News 13 and was promoted to Chief Meteorologist in September of 2004. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 2003 with his bachelor's degree in Meteorology and a minor in Speech Communications. Joel was an All State Football player in high school and excelled in athletics and mathematics. In College, he interned at KMGH News in Denver, and was an avid storm chaser throughout college, as well as, the treasurer of the American Meteorology Society at UNC. Joel has many hobbies and enjoys playing and watching sports, camping, storm chasing and loves to play poker. He is a huge Denver Broncos and Nebraska Cornhuskers fan, but cheers for the Wyoming Cavalry too. Joel's very close family lives in Castle Rock, Colorado where he has an older and a younger brother. He has several pets including two beagles and many fish. Joel loves spending time with his two beautiful daughters, Taylor and Alexis.
